Subscription note: HRIS integrations were available on our Legacy Workplace Premium plan. Our current Workplace plan requires an Enterprise platform for access to the HRIS integrations.
Overview
Envoy’s HRIS integrations enhance both workplace analytics and map editing by connecting your employee system of record directly to Envoy.
With the Employee attendance report, admins and managers gain a clear view of who is entering the workplace and whether they adhere to (optional) onsite policies. By integrating with your HRIS, these reports become more accurate and reflect real-world behavior. Your HRIS sends employee time-off data to Envoy, adding important context to missed check-ins and improving occupancy insights.
At the same time, HRIS data powers Move Queues, enabling admins to proactively manage seating changes. Upcoming new hires, transfers, and terminations are surfaced automatically, giving workplace teams a centralized view of pending moves so they can assign or update seating directly from the workplace map—before changes happen.
Envoy integrates with Merge to connect your account with your HR system.
✨ Important: After the initial connection, all available time off data will sync to Envoy, retroactively populating the Attendance by Employee report and making past reports more accurate.✨

Admin access to your HRIS
Your HRIS API Key. You need to go through the specific HRIS platform your company uses. The location of the key can vary depending on the provider, so it's best to refer to that system's documentation for guidance.
HRIS + Envoy Setup
Step 1: HRIS
Login to your Envoy dashboard, then navigate to Integrations. Search for HRIS, then click Install.
Using the dropdown, select your HRIS provider, then click Connect Account to open the HRIS Connection modal.
The HRIS Connection modal will load with your HRIS configuration steps. Complete the setup modal as required. The exact connection method (via API, SFTP, OAuth, etc) varies by provider.
Click Connect Account again to save and proceed.
Step 2: Configurations (Optional)
You can connect your workplace's specific time off types to Envoy Time Off Types for more granular attendance data. If you skip this step, all approved data from your HRIS will be shown as Time off within Envoy.
Envoy only uses two options: Time off and Work from Home. Time off days count towards the onsite attendance policy, while Work from Home days do not.
Use the left-hand Envoy dropdown to select the category to define. On the right-hand HRIS time off types, input values as a comma separated list. Match this value to the corresponding HRIS time off category. Repeat until the desired categories have been defined.
Click Next Step to save.
Step 3: Locations (Optional)
To automate the creation of tasks in the Maps move queue, you can connect your HRIS to receive relevant employee events. Your locations will need to be mapped to Envoy so the tasks route to the relevant queue.
Check the box next to Automatically sync new hire and termination events from your HRIS to Envoy.
Select the HRIS Location and corresponding Envoy location from the drop-downs.
Click Add Another for each additional location.
Once complete, click Save and complete.
About Employee Data
Envoy only needs the relevant time off data to complete the analytics population. Envoy's database does not receive unnecessary employee data, like payroll details or sensitive PII.
