Use cases and examples of emergency notifications.

Envoy's emergency notifications offer a way for admins to communicate in the event of an emergency. These notifications can be delivered by SMS, mobile push notification, or email.

While our emergency notifications can be used by admins at any time, here are some examples of situations and suggested wording.

Fire emergency

FIRE: A fire has been reported in the building. Please evacuate immediately using the nearest emergency exit. Do not use elevators. Await further instructions from safety personnel.

Severe weather

WEATHER ALERT: A [tornado, hurricane, flood] warning is in effect for our area. Please seek shelter immediately in accordance with the building's safety guidelines. Avoid windows and stay tuned for updates.

Power outage

POWER OUTAGE: We are currently experiencing a power outage affecting our building. Crews are working to restore power. Use flashlights instead of candles if needed. Please standby for further updates.

Gas leak

GAS LEAK WARNING: A gas leak has been detected on [specify floor/area if known]. Evacuate the building immediately and report to the designated assembly point. Do not use lighters or any open flame.

Unplanned building maintenance

MAINTENANCE EMERGENCY: Due to urgent maintenance needs [such as a burst water pipe], access to [specify area] is temporarily closed. Please avoid the area and adhere to safety signs and instructions.

Intruder/Lockdown

SECURITY ALERT: An unauthorized individual has been detected inside the building. Remain inside your unit/office, lock doors, and stay away from windows. Wait for the all-clear signal before leaving your space.

Hazardous material spill

HAZMAT INCIDENT: A hazardous material incident has occurred at [location]. Avoid the affected area. Follow official instructions and await further details.

Health emergency

HEALTH NOTICE: A case of [specify disease, if known] has been confirmed in the building. Please exercise recommended precautions, including [e.g., wearing masks, social distancing]. Affected floors/units are [information]. Consult health authorities for guidance.

General evacuation notice

EVACUATION ORDER: Due to [specify emergency, e.g., nearby chemical spill, bomb threat], all residents must evacuate the building immediately as a precautionary measure. Follow the evacuation plan posted near exits.

Infrastructure failure

BUILDING NOTICE: [System failure, e.g., "The elevator service is temporarily unavailable" / "Security system malfunction"]. Technicians are addressing the problem. Please use [alternative options or instructions].

Critical information update

UPDATE ON [issue/situation]: Here's the latest update on [issue/situation]. [Provide new information and instructions]. For assistance, contact [authority/contact point].

Note: When you're putting together messages for emergency situations, remember to keep them clear, short, and to the point. Make sure to include exact steps on what to do and who to contact if needed. Also, tailor these message templates to fit your building's specific emergency procedures and the local rules.
