How does Kantech work with Envoy?
This solution allows visitors to automatically receive credentials during sign-in and expire Kantech credentials during sign-out using the EntraPass API. For customers utilizing Envoy Workplace, this app also supports activating and suspending employee access automatically during employee sign-in and sign-out.
PREREQUISITES
You’ll need one instance of the Kantech Connected Program add-on as a pre-requisite. When activating the license, “Integration 99” must be selected for the Envoy connection to work.
The following IPs must be whitelisted for inbound and outbound communication:
18.204.164.109
52.86.90.108
52.6.210.64
The following ports must be whitelisted for inbound and outbound communication:
8801
443 (if you plan to use HTTPS)
Once everything is validated above, the URL to connect will resemble the following:
Ex URL: https://demo.kantech.com:8801
Kantech Hosted/Managed Services through JCI do not support integrations through their API. This guidance was provided by JCI.
Step 1: Create and set up your account in Kantech
Step 2: Install the Kantech app in Envoy
Navigate to Apps > All Apps > search for "Kantech By Tyco", then click "Install" on the corresponding result.
Step 3: Authenticate Kantech credentials
Proceed to the API Access step and enter your Kantech credentials.
Step 4: Configure Kantech for your Visitors
Once your credentials are submitted successfully you will proceed to the Visitors step.
This section will allow you to customize the Kantech integration behavior for Visitors signing in through Envoy.
Invite Required: Visitors will not be registered into Kantech during sign-in if this option is enabled and they do not have an invite.
Early Access: This option allows you to provide access prior to the scheduled visitor arrival for the visitor to access the facility (e.g., parking, navigating to a meeting room, etc).
Access Duration: This option allows you to specify the duration of access for visitors.
Assign PIN Access: This option will assign a pin to the visitor when enabled.
Delete Visitor Card: This option will permanently delete the visitor's card in Kantech instead of invalidating it during sign-out.
Send Pin Notification: This option will send your visitors the EntraPass pin via Email or SMS.
Visitor Types to Access Levels: You'll choose which visitor type in envoy will sync to Kantech and specify their access level.
Card Number Minimum/Maximum (Required for Pin Access): If using Pin Access (Option 4), you'll need to configure the card's minimum and maximum ranges. Be sure to check your decimal card format in Kantech if you are unsure.
QR Code: This option allows you to send a QR code that's imbedded with the card numbers. This can also be configured to print on the visitor badges if you have a printer configuration in Envoy. You can enable this through the Badge settings.
Step 5: Configure Kantech for your Employees
This step allows you to customize the Kantech functionality for employees signing into Envoy through Workplace.
Envoy Workplace: This option will enable all options in the section. Disabling this option will disable all options regardless of their state (e.g., "Disabled During Sign Out" toggled on).
Exclude Employees: This option allows you to select employees to entirely exclude from Envoy Workplace functionality in the Kantech integration.
Disable During Sign Out: This option will disable employee cards in Kantech during sign out from Workplace.
Enable During Sign In: This option will enable employee cards in Kantech during sign in with Workplace.
Share Badge Event Data with Envoy:
Check the box to allow Envoy to track badge swipes as Employees come into the office. This feature is currently in Beta.
Workplace Settings: Registration & Check-in required for access (This is currently the only option available for Kantech). This will require employees to register, and check-in in order to be provided access through using Kantech
