How does this app work?
As visitors sign in, Envoy generates a barcode with configurable formats. The barcode is sent to the visitor during pre-registration and/or a separate email if the visitor is a walk-in. You can also opt to print the barcode on the visitor badge.
The unencrypted barcode value will be stored within the visitor record under "Private Notes".
Enabling the Envoy + Barcode generator application
Step 1: Install the Barcode Generator app
1. Go to Apps > All Apps
2. Search for Barcode Generator and click Install.
3. Click Authorize
4. Select barcode credential type: Choose code 39 or 128 barcode format
5. Select Next Step
β¨ Important Note: Be sure to leave the "Print Barcode?" option on this page unchecked as this option will print two badges.
Barcode credential type(code 39 or code 128) should align with your business requirements and the specific demands of your application.
Next Step: Visitors
6. Select Visitor Types that will receive barcodes.
7. Select Access Duration to define how long the barcodes will be valid.
8. Check the box to Print To Visitor Badge, which gives you the option to insert the barcode onto the printer badge.
9. Click Complete Setup to finish app installation.
Step 2: Edit badge settings to print custom barcodes (optional)
If you want to print your custom barcodes on your Visitor badges, you'll need to ensure each flow's badge settings allow for barcodes/QR codes.
Navigate to Visitors > Settings > Sign-in flow and click Edit next to the sign-in flow of your choice.
Navigate to the Badge tab, then click Edit next to Badge display.
Here, you'll see options for Barcode and QR code. Select the appropriate type of barcode to print. You should see the barcode populate as a preview in the bottom right-hand corner of the badge preview.
Click Save once you've made the necessary changes. Add a barcode to any other Visitor flows by repeating steps 1-3.
(Optional, but recommended) Sign in a test visitor using your new sign-in flow settings. The printed badge should now include a barcode, and details will populate into the Visitor entry.
