Verkada [Beta]

Integrate your Verkada access control system with Envoy Workplace.

Updated this week

Overview

Verkada offers a suite of security products, including HD video surveillance, electronic access control, environmental sensors, and cloud-based management software. Verkada integrates with Envoy Workplace to automatically sign in employees, making it easy to track current occupancy and attendance.

PREREQUISITES

  • You will need administrative access to your Verkada Command dashboard to complete this setup. Ensure you have administrative access or work with a local administrator before proceeding with the following steps.

  • The following IPs should be whitelisted for inbound and outbound communication.

    • 18.204.164.109

    • 52.6.210.64

    • 52.86.90.108

  • The following ports must be whitelisted for inbound and outbound communication:

    • 443 (if you plan to use HTTPS) - HTTPS requires an SSL Cert

  • At least one Access Control Unit (AC12, AD32, AC42, or AC62) and one valid door license from Verkada are required. Please reach out to Verkada for more information.

  • Verkada API key:

    • Name: Envoy

    • Endpoints:

      • Access Control - Read Only (required)

      • Core Command - Read Only (optional)

        • This is necessary for receiving badge events. In some instances, the event payload is missing the email address, which requires Envoy to look up by user ID.

Configuration

Step 1: Connect your Verkada account with Envoy

  1. Create a new Verkada API key in your Verkada Command center. For Workplace auto-sign in, see the prerequisites above.

  2. Navigate to your Envoy dashboard, click Apps > All Apps and search "Verkada." Click Install to begin configuration.

  3. Click Authorize to allow Verkada to access the Envoy data listed here.

  4. Locate your Verkada API key in your Verkada Command dashboard.

Copy this, then navigate back to the Envoy dashboard. Paste the key under Verkada API Key.

  5. Select your API region - US or EU. Click Next Step.

Step 2: Select your Workplace settings

  1. Check the box next to Enable Auto sign in to sign employees into Envoy when they use a designated reader to access your workplace.

  2. Set which doors you want to use for employee sign-in events. The door(s) will transmit employee data to Envoy when badged into.

  3. Event Types: Set the event type for Envoy to receive.

  4. (optional) Set any exempt employees under Select exempt employees.

  5. Click Complete setup to save and exit the app installation process.
