HRIS Directory Sync

Learn how to connect your HR software to Envoy to power your employee directory.

For some HRIS providers, an additional cost is associated with installing integrations. Please refer to your HRIS provider for more information.


Overview

If your team manages employees in an HR system such as Workday, BambooHR, ADP, or Paylocity, you can use this integration to automatically keep your Envoy employee directory up to date. HRIS directory sync treats your HR system as your source of truth. When employees are added, updated, or removed there, those changes flow into Envoy, so no manual updates are needed.

You can still manually create new employees or add employees from other locations while maintaining your directory sync. Learn more about manually adding employees.

You cannot combine multiple directory sync sources.

Location syncing

All employees in your HRIS will be added to all Envoy locations. Primary locations are defined in step 3 of your HRIS configuration. At this time, you cannot map specific employees to specific locations. This means every employee added to Envoy will be able to invite visitors and book workplace resources at all active locations.

Configuration

Step 1: Connect your HRIS

  1. On the Envoy dashboard, navigate to the Integrations page.

  2. Under Directory and SSO, click Directory settings.

  3. Click Install under HRIS.

    1. If you haven't installed this integration, you'll be prompted to complete it following these instructions.

    2. If you've already installed this, you'll see a confirmation, "Your HRIS account is connected and ready."

  4. Once your HRIS is successfully connected to Envoy, you'll be able to begin syncing.

Step 2: Enable HRIS for directory

  1. Toggle On the switch next to Enable HRIS directory sync.

  2. Once this is enabled, the sync will begin.

Employee information that syncs from your HRIS into Envoy

  • Email address

  • Full name

  • Phone number

  • Employee ID (external ID from your HRIS)

  • Department

  • Division

  • Organization/business unit

  • Cost center

  • Job title

  • Profile photo

  • Default office location (used for Primary location)
