Connecting Microsoft Sharepoint to Screens

Overview

You can connect your Microsoft SharePoint account to Envoy Screens to make it easy to display files from your SharePoint sites across your workplace. By establishing this connection, you can pull images, videos, PowerPoint files, and other supported content directly into Screens playlists without duplicating files across systems.

The integration must be installed via the Integrations page, preferably using a service account rather than a personal email address. Using a service account ensures the connection isn't tied to an individual employee and keeps your Screens content working if that person leaves your organization.

Step 1: Connecting your Envoy account with SharePoint

  1. In a separate tab, navigate to your Envoy dashboard > Integrations, then search for Sharepoint. Click Install.

  2. Click Connect Account to open the Microsoft authorization window.

  3. Approve the requested permissions. Envoy needs read access to the SharePoint sites and files you choose so it can display them on Screens.

  4. Your account connection will be established. You will see a Saved Successfully message when complete.

Step 2: Import Content from SharePoint

Now that you have an account connected, you can add files from your SharePoint sites to the Screens content library.

  1. Navigate to Screens > Content. Click + New, then select SharePoint from the dropdown.

  2. A site picker will open. Browse or search for the SharePoint site that contains your content, then click the site to open it.

  3. Once you've selected a site, the file picker will display files from that site. Select one or more files, then click Add.

  4. Your content will be loaded into your library and made available for addition to a Playlist. Clicking on your content will display content details, including time added and time last modified.

Adding SharePoint content directly from a playlist

You can also add SharePoint content while editing a playlist:

  1. Open or create a playlist under Screens > Playlists

  2. Click the + button to add content, then choose SharePoint

  3. Pick a site, select the files you want, then click Add. The files will be added to your content library and to the playlist in one step.

Supported content types

SharePoint files supported on Screens include:

  • Images (JPG, PNG, GIF)

  • Videos (MP4 and other common formats)

  • PowerPoint presentations

  • Excel spreadsheets

If you don't see a file you expected in the picker, confirm the file type is supported and that your service account has permission to view it within SharePoint.
