Overview
MAC address mappings are central to how Envoy detects employee presence. Wi-Fi presence integrations like Cisco Meraki and Aruba Central use device MAC addresses to associate network signals with employees, so the accuracy of those mappings directly affects whether employees are correctly marked on-site.
You can manage these mappings via integration or manually upload a CSV or a single mapping.
When multiple integrations sync MAC address data to Envoy, conflicts can happen. Source priority gives you control over which integrations can update MAC address mappings, and when.
Viewing MAC addresses
To view your employees' MAC addresses:
Navigate to Global Overview > Manage > Account settings.
Scroll down to MAC address mappings and click Edit.
You can view all current MAC addresses here.
Uploading MAC addresses via CSV
Navigate to Global Overview > Manage > Account settings.
Scroll down to MAC address mappings and click Edit.
Click Add mappings, then Import from CSV.
The CSV upload window will open. Click Select CSV file, then select the file you wish to upload.
Click Upload.
Setting MAC address source priority
You can toggle source priority on or off at any time. Sources with the same level can overwrite each other, but sources with a lower level cannot overwrite mappings from a higher-priority source.
When source priority is turned off, all sources are treated equally by default. This may result in sources deleting previous uploads, so it's highly suggested to enable Source priority.
To set:
Navigate to Global Overview > Manage > Account settings.
Scroll down to MAC address mappings and click Edit.
Click the gear icon to open the source priority settings window.
Toggle Enable source priority to On.
The available sources in priority settings appear dynamically based on which integrations have MAC address sync enabled and which sources have existing mappings in your company. Give each source a priority level from 1 (highest) to 5 (lowest).
Click Save to complete the configuration.
